Oklahoma Rental Housing Demand Study

Housing is at the center of Oklahoma’s future. From our largest cities to rural counties, families are struggling to find safe, stable, and affordable rental homes.
This study highlights projected rental housing demand through 2035 across four key income levels:

  • 30% AMI (Extremely Low-Income Households)

  • 50% AMI (Very Low-Income Households)

  • 60% AMI (Low-Income Households)

  • 80% AMI (Moderate-Income Households)

Why this matters
Housing for Communities’ statewide study reveals the growing demand for affordable rental housing in Oklahoma through 2035. Families at every income level — from 30% AMI to 80% AMI — face shortages that strain communities and local economies. Explore the maps and analysis to see where needs are greatest, and how expanding rental housing options can strengthen stability across the state.
